I am a Work Advantage program tenant throug NYC DHS.. The landlord was charging me money under a sidedeal and in desperation, I accepted. Since moved in he has been very demanding about how often my guest are allowed to come over, and other little petty things. When I stopped paying the side deal money after being advised to do so, he tried to have me evicted for non-payment but was forced to discontinue the case. Now he has served me with a thirty day notice claiming that if I'm here after 10/31, it's a hold over and he claims that I have more people living here than are listed on the lease, which is not true... what can I do? We already had an issue today because I put a lock on my mailbox fearing he might steal my mail (I get mail from former tenants in my box) and he tried to break into my box.
