Question

Cat has been vomiting x2 days. Mostly clear. Cat does try to ear but vomits it back up. Cat is not lethargic. Not sure of breed but I would just call it a common house cat male. No hair in vomit and no diarrhea. Possible cause? Hasn''t been exposed to other cats but I have several times. One small house dog.

Info Request

How many times has the cat vomited in the last 2 days?
Are the vomiting episodes getting more or less frequent?
Does your cat go outside?

Probably about ten time. Not much change if frequency. Cat is drinking liquids. Cat doesn't go outside but the dog goes out in a lot.

Accepted Answer

Vomiting this many times and not being able to hold down any food or water for 2 days, can be quite serious. In a cat this young, the most likely culprits are either an infectious disease, an ingestion of something toxic, or a foreign body causing an obstruction (like a string, piece of tinsel, piece of a toy, etc..). Your cat should go to the animal hosptial as soon as possible for an evaluation. She should have some blood work to see if she is having any problem with her liver or kidneys or is showing any signs of toxicity. She should also have an abdominal X-ray to look for signs of obstruction. With this much vomiting, she most certainly is becoming dehydrated, and will need to be on IV fluids.
I hope that this information is of help to you, and that your kitty feels better soon. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
