Since you have done just about everything to cure this cylinder 4 misfire I recommend a compression test and compare it to other cylinders. A possible valve concern is a possibility also a coil firing signal can be at fault also an injector pulse can be missing. I recommend you remove the plug and compare it to other plugs. A plug electrode appearance can many times give results to the cause.

When I first turn on the car the car starts shaking and the check engine lights goes on. When I turn the car off after a few minutes and re-start it, it does not shake. The check engine light goes out. No miss fires appears. Number 4 cylinder. I did not replace the original sparkplugs. BMW recommended NGK platinum 4 but I installed Bosch platinum 4 instead. Could that be the problem? Or could it be the mass air flow sensor? Thank you very much.

Accepted Answer

Since it is affecting one cylinder then The plug could be faulty. I personally have seen and repaired many concerns associated with bosch plugs being installed.

Answer

You are going to need a scan tool to monitor the coil and injector to see if they are not contributing when the engine is shaking.
