I'm 99% sure that my oil pan gasket needs to be replaced, form looking under my Grand Cherekee it looks like a simple job. Is this something I should do. I have all the tools, and do the bolts holding the oil pan have to be torquet to a specific

Hi,

I do all manufacturers. The question just came up under Chevrolet for some reason.

Here are directions.

Torque specs -

  • Pan Bolts = 1/4" x 20 bolts - 9.5ft. lbs. 5/16" x 18 bolts - 11ft. lbs
  • Starter bolts = 45ft. lbs.
  • No torque specs given on other bolts

I am sorry, should have asked you -3.9L or 4.0L 6cyl.

directions are different. Ones I gave you are for 4.0L

If you have 3.9L

They are as follows:

  • Pan bolts -18ft lbs
  • starter- 50ft lbs

Hi,

depending on local hourly labor rates - $350-400.

I know it sounds like a lot, but its something you can knock out at the house in about 4-5 hrs. at the most
