you have 50g of food and dilute it in 450ml of water- you blend it until it is equally distributed.what is the dilution? 10 to neg 2 or 10 to neg 1?

450 ml of water has a mass of 450 g so you have 500 g total. The mass fraction of the mixture that is food is 50/500 = 0.1 = 10^-1

That is the "dilution" value they are after: 10 to the -1 power.
