Question

I have 2 small female dogs, both spayed, both have always been healthy. When I am at work, I put puppy training pads down because they can not hold it the whole time I am gone. A few days ago and this morning, I noticed a few scattered, very light colored drops of blood on the floor near the puppy pads. I checked both dogs and neither are bleeding. It doesn't look like there is any blood in the urine on the pad, so I am stumped as to where it came from. Any ideas?

Answer

HI XXXXXXXXX,

I would check inside the mouth. It's possible through play that one bit a lip or their own tongue. If you leave any chew toys for them then it could have happened that way. Look for any type of ulcer or abscess in the mouth also.

If it does not happen again I would not get too concerned since you have checked them out.
