how do you change the processor in a hp 6645c. I currently have a celeron 512mhz and want to install a pentium III 1000mhz

Unfortunately, according to HP's support website, the maximum HP supported processor for your laptop is the Intel Celeron 566 MHz ( socket 370, 66 MHz).

Obviously if the CPU you want to install is the same socket size it will "fit", however, you will not realize the benifits of the new CPU due to the constraints of the factory motherboard/chipset. Basically, the P3 1,000 Mhz will not perform anywhere near that speed...and it could easily damage the motherboard as well. Other concerns could be the power supply since it was not designed for a higher end processor.
