my son-in-law lives in chatsworth ga. works for mohawk carpet factory.they started a no smoking or using cell phones at the factory.the employees are not allowed outside or leaving mohawk grounds to smoke or lunch,my son-in-law was talking on his cell phone at break not smoking but he was accused because the plant manager said the room was smoky but they didn't smell cigarettes on him but made him leave for the day,he had to call in the next morning and his flr manager told him he was fired,is this legal?prior to this situation another worker got caught rubbing tobacco and was given a 3 day suspension,my son-in-law just was awrded for perfect attendance and work performance but was terminated for using his cell on break.
