Hi XXXX -
It sure sounds like you and your kitty have been through a lot recently!! Kudos to you for choosing the radioactive iodine treatment for the hyperthyroidism. It really is the best option for treatment of this condition.
Diarrhea with blood is a pretty common problem in cats and it is not necessary something to be extremely worried about. It can be dificult to narrow down exactly what the cause for this is - it could be related to parasites, inflammatory bowel disease, other metabolic problems, bacterial infections, etc. It would be a good idea to have a stool sample checked by your vet to see if there are any parasites and to check what type of bacteria are present within the stool as a starting place. If blood work has not been done since the radioactive iodone treatment, it may be a good idea to have this done as well.
Many cats will respond well to a medication called metronidazole, regardless of what the cause is, so be sure to ask your vet about this. If your kitty is feeling well, eating normally and not vomiting, it is less likely that this is being caused by something more serious. If your kitty is not feeling well, though, then I would be more concerned.
