I have an Emerson TC1972D TV that was given to me and just bought a remote for it. But, the remote will turn it on and let me set the channels, but I get no picture. I think I need codes, but can't find the exact ones for the remote or TV. the Remote is 076MO56100. Can anyone help? Thanks,

Hello toomanyprob,

Thank you for asking your question on Just Answer. If the remote can turn the TV on and change the channels the remote should be able to control most functions of the TV. What make remote did your purchase? Is this a universal remote? Are you sure the TV actually works?

Should you require further clarification, never hesitate to ask. It would be my pleasure to clarify my answer to your question. My goal is your 100% satisfaction with all questions I answer.

Please click the green ACCEPT icon if you feel I have given a complete answer, and you are satisfied with my answer. Positive feedback and bonuses are always greatly appreciated!

The remote is a Emerson 076M056100, RC56800. It is not the original; but it's the same.

I also, have to manually set the channels. It scans and goes back to the original screen to begin the scan again. I have to manually put in the channels with the numeric pad, and then press "add" in order to set the channels. What is going on here?
Thanks,

It is a 076M056100, Product code E68219, RC56800, EUR95 model remote.

Does the TV get no picture or sound?

Have you ever seen a picture on the TV personally?

Is the screen white, black or snowey when the power is turned on?

The TV comes on; it gives a snowy picture. As I am scanning through channels, I see flashes of blips and color, but it does not get a picture other than the snow once the channel is set.

No, I have never seen an actual picture.

Do you get any sound at all? What type of antenna do you have connected to the TV?Have you tried connecting a DVD player or a VCR to the set? Does it get a picture or sound with either?

It has no antenna. I was told that it did work. I have a DVD player and VCR, but that is a whole other problem because the TV only has a co-axial connection and nothing else. So, I also need to know how to hook up the DVD and VCR and Modulator to the TV with only a co-axial.

The only sound is the snow static sound except for blips; in-between one channel blip, I did hear one word of something and then it went back to staticky snow.

Do I need an additional Modulator? I have the VCR and DVD hooked into either side of the modulator. The Antenna is actually attached to the VCR. The Modulator has an audio/video hookup that went into my old TV. This TV does not have an audio/video hookup; just the Co-Axial. Do I need another modulator or switchbox?

Does your VCR and DVD player have both an RF out and RCA connectors also? What are the makes and models of the VCR and the DVD?

The VCR is an old one from the 70's; a GE VG7520 or 7720 model and the DVD player is a Cyberhouse Mini DVD player with progressive scan.

Yes both the DVD and the VCR have the connectors and cables.

I want to hook both devices to it, that's why I wanted to know if I needed another RF mod or not. The back of the DVD player has audio and video cable that used to hook into my old tv, but I am wondering where that will be hooked.
Thanks

So you are saying that I can use the antenna that is hooked into the VCR to get the picture?
