In the shower this morning, I found a bump on my nipple that is very sore. My breasts have been very sore in general for the past few weeks but I just associated that with my period. This bump is visible with the eye and touch. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Is the lump on the surface of the nipple or in the tissues beneath?

Any redness of the skin?

Reply to Dr J Burk's Post: It is on the surface of the nipple. There is not any redness of the skin. There are a couple other small little bumps on the nipple as well.

This is probably a Montgomery Tubercle - a simple , harmless,swelling of one of the glands in your nipple.

As with any breast lump you need to see your MD to have it assessed.
