Question

I paid off a collector for a past due account this past may. A different collection agency is harrassing me saying I never paid off the debt and saying they have a judgement against me. I never contacted me by mail. they harrassed me by calling me at work numerous times. I pulled my 3 credit report and the original creditor is nowhere to be found on the credit report and the debt is no longer there. These people are threatening to sue me and garnish my wages even though it has been paid. What do I do??

Already Tried:
checked my credit report to verify it is no longer on there and talking to the previous collector with whom I paid the debt off to. He suggested I send a certified letter to this place and get an fcapa attorney or something along those lines (do not have the paper in front of me where i wrote it all down) Just want to make sure I do not get sued for something I already paid off.
