Question

I was approached in my home by 2 police officers. They stated the wanted to discuss a community issue.
Once inside they demanded to be allowed to search my home for drugs.
They claimed a police officer whom I filed a formal complaint against had smelled pot comming from my home.
I ask them for identification and told them without a warrant they couldnt search my home, I then ask them to leave.
I was told I was being suspicious and they could get a warrant, I invited them to do so and again ask them to leave.

This cant be legal???????????????

Accepted Answer

Was a search conducted? There was nothing inappropriate about the questions asked and the request to search the house. You could also mnost certainly decline. The scent and furtive behavior could be sufficient to acquire a warrant although it is borderline at best.
