Hello, It sounds like you have had a sensor fail I have no idea why one would go bad with the car just setting, but stranger things have happened. The unfortunate part is that the only way to find the problem is to have the system scanned with a class 2 scanner to read the codes in the computer that will be stored by the flashing light. Note that anytime the light is on, the air bag will not function or deploy in the event of an accident. It may be something as simple as a bad or loose connection or as major as a bad air bag module. But it will need to be scanned to find the problem. And it will need to be with a class 2 scanner like the dealer uses. A regular code reader won't scan this particular system,. If you can rent, beg, borrow or steal a scanner and get the code numbers and post them here, we can track down the problem for you. Thanks
