Question

Hi, my porblem started with me picking out in-grown hairs on my lip. What eventually happened was I developed inflammed little sores that when I picked on these there existed not hairs but small white tissue like skin roots which were very tender. I picked these out and felt better. How ever, I have created wounds on my lip that sometimes heal but have left scars. And it seems, these guys seem to return and I go through the process all over again. Also, sometimes they appear like little blisters that hurt. Again I pick these off and leave exposed opennings. I have seen dematologists and my answer is don't pick. Unfortunately, when is hurts a lot, I have not choice. Any thoughts? Appreciate any comments even it is don't pick.

Sores in the oral region can be due to variety of causes including viral infection, dietary deficiency, foliculitis or fungal infection. Plucking these lesions will not treat the cause. I would recommend that you consider laser therapy or electro cautery for this with a dermatologist experienced in these procedures. Also antibiotics can be tried prior to performing these procedures. For now you should be taking daily multivitamin supplements like Centrum and see if it is of any help.
