Question

Hello, Our whirpool just recently stopped during the drain process and will not continue in the rinse cycle. If you manually turn the dial to the rinse cycle you can hear it switch to the rinse cycle but nothing happens at that point. It is still full of water which I will drain with a portable sump pump. Is it the switch or what? Please help. I can get the model number if neccesary. Thank you for your help. Brian

Answer

Hii Brian;

From the way you describe the problem it sounds like your pump has gone out. This is an easy repair.

You will need a #2 phillips screwdriver ,a flat tip screwdriver, and a pair of 8" sliplock pliers or channel locks.

This web page will show you how to do this repair. Complete with pictures.

Accepted Answer

Yes it can be either one. But if it were you would still have the pump empting the water from the washer. If the motor is running then the pump should be also. Anytime that the motor is running the pump runs also. It is a direct drive pump. There is no way to disengage the pump from the motor unless you remove it.
