Hi,
What does she eat?
does her food contain corn or gluten?
how long is she unable to meow?
any discharge to the eyes or nose?
Thanks,
Terri
Please stand by while I type detailed answer.
Has she ever been tested for herpes?
Dear friend,
There are several possibiities so I will try to cover everything,
She may have food allergies triggering feline asthma, sinus or upper respirtory infection, abscessed teeth, gingavitis, underhydation, etc
Food allergies or issues can develope at any time but are more likely when your babys immune system temporarily weakens. If she has any infected or abscessed teeth or gingavitis, that could be the trigger.

She may also have a stubborn upper respirtory or sinus infection so a two week round of either clavamox or clindamycin should be tried if it continues,
If her food has fillers start her on a natural diet containing no corn or gluten - check http://www.petfooddirect.com/ for many grainless choices.Cats are meat eaters and do not do well on dry food only - they need a bit of canned. Also make sure her litter is dust free.
If you use any carpet powders, etc that could be the culprit.
she may have Herpes That disorder causes upper respiratory issues.:

She can take colloidal silver which boosts the immune system A half teaspoon a day.in her water

That will also reduce inflammation of the sinuses
L-lycine is a human amino acid - 125 mg a day or enisyl F at http://www.bullwrinkle.com/
If she has an upper respiratory or other infection, antibiotics must be scripted for a long enough duration that all bacteria is eradicted. If not, they will refluorish, stronger and more resistant and reinfect him. In addition, the bacteria can become tolerant of the same antibiotic so the medication should be varied for best results.

Get a tube of Terramycin ointment.i her eyes tear Some pet supplys carry it - but call first or http://www.revivalanimal.com/
Cats can take an OTC decongestant calld chlortrimeton sold in drug stores - half a tablet every 12 hours.
Please let me know how your baby is doing, I hope you can resolve this by changing her food and using the natural remedies. If you have questions along the way, I will always be here for both of you.
I hope she feels better very soon.

Hairballs can always be an issue, however, thhey woul not cause upper respiratory symptoms. You can add fish oil like from tuna to her food and put a dab of vaseline on her foot for her to lick off.
Please let me know how she is doing.
Best wishes,
