I efiled as married filing joint 4/9/05 then compared to married filing seperate and for the first time in 20 years it was to my advantege. I read that you can amend your fileing from seperate to joint but not the other way. Is there any way to fix this?

Answer

The code says that you may not file separate after filing joint after the deadline for the filing period expires. You should be able to file separate if you do so before April 15.
