Answer

Hello,

When the Link light turns red and the activity light is blue. I have found that using the reset button, through the small hole in the side of the Linksys case sometimes this will fix the issue if not unplug the unit form the wall outlet and begin again. First get a blue light for Link and then press Auto Configuration. If at first the Link light goes red and the Activity light turns blue, push the Auto Configuration button again and wait. The unit might recycle and you might get both lights to turn blue and stay blue.

Hope this helps,

Thanks

when i push the reset button with the system on, the link light turns blue but the activity light will then not light up at all. afterwards, when i push the auto configuration botton, the activity light turns blue but the link light blinks blue then red. i unplug the the wireless-g range expander and repeat the process after it is plugged in with the same results.

Hello,

Ok lets check if the firmware for the router and the Expander are current,

Go to the command prompt by going to Start -> Run -> cmd...when you are in the command prompt type

ping 192.168.1.240........check whether you are getting replies or it it times out

If you are getting replies ...

Open Internet Explorer and in the address bar type http://192.168.1.240/. Leave the username field blank and in the password type "admin". This will give you the expander's configuration page.

Check what is the firmware version here. Latest firmware for WRE54G v2 is 2.01.12. Incase if the firmware is not latest.....update the expander's firmware.

Also make sure that the wireless settings of both the expander and the router are one and the same
