Answer

If replaceing the cluster, You cannot use the tech2 to change or program miles. That needs to be done by an ipc/radio facility. You will need to show some sort of proof of the correct mileage on the truck. either have to get old odometer read by a dealer and they will submit a form to the ipc/radio repair facility, or some sort of recent recept or emmisions test sheet that shows mileage.

Joel I hope you can figure this out I can't tonight. I'll wait for your reply in the morning.

Answer

WOW, that bulletin is so new, that i have not even seen it yet! I would suspect that the tech2 you have does not have the newest programming software in it "version 8.5, released 8-19-07'. The tech2 will have to updated in that case.

The Tech 2 was updated. There was not any place to program miles or hours. I did what the update said. Joel I would like you to figure this out. I spent about 4 hours reprogramming the IPC. I used a newer computer I brought from home. I thought maybe the update didn't like Windows 98 on the old computer's had a hard time down loading the info. Windows XP did not have any trouble. I'm wondering if repeated reprogramming may have damaged the new ipc. On windows 98-2000 I couldn't get the down load to work it said no communication.

Beleive me, i understand having problems programming. Was the 'no comm.' during the programming of the ipc, or the downloed of the tech2 update? Are you sure the tech2 has version 8.5 in it?

Are you using the passthrough programming procedure, or are you downloading the ipc programming software, disconnecting the tech2 from pc, then plugging tech2 into truck?

I have done the second procedure

Posted by Joel 803 days and 22 hours ago.

Answer

Sounds like that is your problem. You need to de the passthrough procedure. the pc terminal, tech2, and truck must all me connected together while programming, then you will get the option to insert mileage.
