what could cause a 97 millineum 2.3 to have no power . takes a block to get up to 40 mph.original engine had a water leak out the exhaust. bought an engine in dallas tx.original motor would run ok, just leaked. muffler had heat in trunk area last night after driving about 30 miles. thanks

The first thing is to take a back pressure test on the exhaust,the Catalytic Converter, which has tiny honey combs inside.The other way to check is to disconnect the exhaust before the cat. and see if the power comes back.Let me know.
