Question

I have a chrysler 1990 lebaron. While I was driving the battery was discharging and the car shut down. I took alternator to a shop and it is good. The is totally dead and I need another one. What can cause the battery to discharge while driving and alternator is good.

Hello!

In order for the alternator to function in the vehicle, it must have good power and ground connections. Take a test light or DVOM and make sure you have battery power at the large output terminal on the alternator.

When the key is in the run position, you should also have power at the field connection at the smaller plug on the alternator.
