Hello,

Can you tell me if the area looks like Cotton?

Does it look dotted?

Is you fish swimming off balance or slowly?

Any red areas on the gills?

Yes it does look like cotton. and it does have some dots in the white area. NOW that i look more closely, it seems to MAYBE have some red at its gills. it swims normal. it has never really jumped around fast. thank you!

Hello,

There are a couple of possibilities that are happening, the first is Ich which is easily treated with an Ich Preparation that can be gotten at the Pet supply. These products will help Acriflavine, Furan, and Terramycin. I would do a partial water change and use the prepartion as described on the bottle. There is also another problem which can be more serious which is a Fish Tuberculosis, which does not have a cure, but is common to Betta Fish. I would try treating for the ich first and see if it clears up. Joan jav917

Answer

Hello,

Unfortunately there is no known treatment other than to treat the symptoms. You can try some regular non-iodized table salt, with continuous partial water changes. I am going to give you a great link to help with disease and cure for fish, to use as a guideline. Joan Jav917

Answer

Hello,

The OTC means over the counter and no prescription medications that can be purchased in a Pet supply. Some of the meds. can be applied directly to the fish and some just go into the water. I hope this will help your Betta. My son has one and we know how wonderful they are. Joan Jav917
