Question

I have an african plated lizard. while holding him his tail fell off.There was almost no blood loss.I knowsome lizards lose their tails as a defensive mechinism.Is this a normal occurance for african plated lizards also?

Hello,

Like most lizards the African plated lizard will throw its tail if alarmed or sensing danger.

They are very shy, but make interesting pets. The tail will grow back but not quite as nice as the original tail. Joan Jav917
