Question
yesterday I put in a tampon for the first time, and I felt a little lightheaded right after, but in the end it was alright. Today i put a new one in, and as i was putting it in, i was feeling more and mroe lighteheaded. then my ears popped (like on an airplane), and my hearing and vision became fuzzy. I ould hardly stand up without holding on to a wall. What happened to me and why?

Answer
this is called a vasovagal reaction and is a reflex to a stressful or nervous situation, extreme pain, pressure in the abdomen or pressure on the neck. in your case since its your first time putting it in it could have been nerves or the change in abdominal pressure with the insertion. this can lead to fainting so next time try putting it in laying on your side to make sure this doesnt occur. consciously try to take a deep breath and relax your abs as well. if still a problem try pads until your next cycle and then try again.
