Question

I have been advised to apply Aldara for my Molluscum contagium on my pubic area and genitals by my dermo. But the molluscum seem to be going away gradually on their own. I have read that one of the side effects of Aldara is that it can leave a mark that may or may not go. Should I use it in this case or leave it on its own to go away? i don't want any leftover marks on my skin.

Hello

Molluscum contagiosum usually disappears spontaneously over a period of months to years. usually it disappear within about 2 - 3 months. Complete disappearance of all lesions generally occurs within about 6 - 18 months.Aldara cream had side affect that it may lead hypopigmented mark after usage. Also local skin and application site reactions may occur. These side effects are only present in less then 2% cases. If you will not use the cream,& you have good immunity, then molluscum contagiosum lesions will definately go away completely, but it may take time of few months.
