How to get rid of them and will they kill the trees if left alone

Hello alomagene,

Thank you for asking your question on Just Answer. My choice is removal of the tent and the pest. At night they will return to their host tree. This is the best time to control them. The nests can be cut out and should be destroyed, to keep them from returning. Soap or other insecticides can be applied. There are several chemical insecticides and a microbial insecticide that can be used. Bacillus thuringiensis is one good product for control. Even heavy infestation normally will not kill the tree.
