tried to pay fine but they said i couldn't

Answer

Yes. It would remainon your records as a conviction since the payment of a fine is admission of guilt. If you a court appearance is possible, schedule it. In many cases, if you have a clean record, a conviction may be avoided with an agreement to Stay Prosecution. This means that no action is taken on the file and, if you do not get in trouble again for a certain period, it is dismissed.
