when they take a nap they wake up with there eyes crusted shut. when the are awake there eyes are very watery and it looks like they are crying. It resembles pink eye to me.

Hi There!
You are most likely right, sounds like a classic eye infection.

You can clean their eyes with a wet warm papertowel. Try not to tug to much, more of a dabbing motion to keep it clean. You can also dab them with a warm wet teabag wrapped in the paper towel to help them feel better..

To clear the infection, get an antibacterial eye cream called Terramycin. Some pet stores carry it, you may have to call around, or your vet might sell it to you. This will treat most eye infections in cats. If you do not see an improvement in 3 to 4 days, they may need to go in to the vet for a stronger prescription strength cream to clear their eyes.
