Question

While driving my 99 chevy Suburban this evening with the high beams and radio on my wife wanted the air on too. When the air blower was turned on the dash flickered and the engine cut out as i was driving. i was able to throw it in neutral and start right up again but it was very strange to say the least. Any ideas??

Have the charging system and the battery checked out. Most major auto parts stores will do this at no charge. Make sure they look at the wave form the alternator is producing. It is possible that one leg of the rectifier is bad so when taxed for power it has trouble keeping up. The other possibility is there is a short in the blower circuit. Let me know if you need more help.

ahh, that makes sense...
(i forgot to mention that my cell phone was charging with the lighter circuit as well.)

it just seemed really odd that the engine pooped out at 40 mph. i had never seen that before.
