I had already read that article on the vegetarian crocodile. It is available on GOOGLE & Ask.com.

One crocodile does not prove that there are more who are vegetarians. The short article stating there are vegetarian crocodiles came from a syndicated column in the Modesto Bee in 1996. It was wriiten by the late L.M. Boyd. (see below from copied from the Wikipedia)

Louis Malcolm (Mal) Boyd, popularly known as L. M. Boyd (born June 9, 1927 in Spokane, Washington, USA; died January 22, 2007, in Seattle) was a newspaper columnist whose nationally syndicated column was a collection of miscellaneous trivial and amusing facts.

The Modesto Bee is also on microfilm at the Merced County Library. (I live in Merced County.)

I am not trying per se to confirm that L.M. Boyd said there were vegetarian crocodiles. I am really trying to find either the source(s)for his statement or other independent, corroborated research that there are, indeed, several vegetarian crocodiles. (In other words, I know what he said, I just want real proof.)

Since "Louis Malcolm (Mal) Boyd, popularly known as L. M. Boyd," had a nationally sindicated column, that article was also carried by the San Francisco Chronicle/Examiner, and other large newspapers. If I recall correctly, his column was called by different names in different papers i.e. "The Grab Bag" or "The Answer Man" or just "L.M. Boyd".

This is a difficult one to find solid information about. Here are a few more articles for you:

http://www.webseurope.com/trivia.htm

http://www.angelfire.com/mi/dinosaurs/carnivores.html (This website gives a book reference you could possibly find at the library)

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1134/is_1_110/ai_70770143

I hope one of these help.

I had tried the local library long before. The fact is that it is common kinowledge that crocs are carnivores. If there really are some exceptions, more proof is needed than the one crocodile in India who supposedly is a veggie. Even in that case, how do we know for sure that crocodile doesn't it fish and/or frogs. I am sure he is not monitored 24/7 and we can't see if there are fish in the water.
