Strange spots appear on new feather pillow

I have a new feather pillow, it’s covering fabric was white when purchased. I put a clean pillow case on the pillow, used it for awhile, then took the pillow case off to wash it--after removing the pillow case I noticed the pillow fabric has small black/brown/rust colored spots all over it, on both sides, yet the pillow case is free from any sort of spots-so it could not be something spilled on the pillow. What caused the spots?

Believe it or not, saliva is very acidic and affects different fabrics differently.  If you're seeing rust spots on your pillow, it's probably from where you drool a little in your sleep.  It's not reacting to the pillow case because it's a different type of fabric.

You can use a spot cleaner on the outside of your pillow to remove the spots if they bother you.

I hope this helps!
