Answer

Hi Stella. Don't be trying to feed it anything and for sure don't be giving it any dairy products. Very bad for birds. If it is that young, you have no chance whatsoever of saving it unless 1. you know exactly what kind of bird it is, and 2. you are very experienced hand feeding baby birds. The best thing to do is to get it back into the nest as quickly as possible. The parent birds will feed and tend to it. It is an old wives tale that they will not take care of it after a human has touched it. If it's totally impossible to reach the nest to return it, the only other hope the baby has is for you to get it into the hands of a wildlife rehab person right away. Little ones that young need frequent feedings to survive but you don't know what to feed it and without knowing exactly what it is, I could not begin to give you any suggestions. I can give you a couple links to hlep you locate someone who may have at least a small chance of saving it. All you can do is to make sure it stays warm, (80F at least) and try to reach a rehab person. Click here: How To Locate a Wildlife Rehabilitator Click here: The Wildlife Rehabilitation Information Directory I'm sorry I can't offer more help than that but there are just too many unknowns here and that baby is way to young to have much of a chance unless you can get it back into the nest right away. Best of luck with it. Patricia
