the squirrels last year chewed off my finch bird feeder perches. I discovered it and replaced the feeder with metal perches. I always use thistle bird food but have not sen the finches come back this year?

Hello. You have done about all you can do. Their migrations can seem to run in cycles for reasons known only to them. Sometimes we will have hordes of them at our feeders. The next year we may be lucky to see a handful. Aside from making sure you have no stray or neighbor's cats lurking in the vicinity, keeping food available and hoping for the best is all you can do. I know you were probably hoping for a more hopeful approach but we can't fight mother nature very often. Keep the faith, I'm sure they will return in their own good time. If you need anything else, just let me know. Patricia
