My 1996 ford escort wagon's reservoir plastic coolant tank starts and makes a bubbling sound when I shut off my engine. My mechanic suggested "bleeding" the radiator...pls tell me if this is correct. My temp gauge shoes a quarter away from "cold". Can the thermostat malfunctioning necessarily cause this? Gary P.

Gary,

You only need to bleed it if you have done any repairs to the cooling system...you most likely do have a faulty engine thermostat. I would replace it first and see if the engine is still continuing to overheat.
