Hi, and thanks for giving me the opportunity to answer your question.
Your question is a tough one to answer, only because it depends on your definition of 'good'. Here's the bottom line: The average SAT scores, nationwide, of college bound students are: Critical Reading, 503; Math, 518; and Writing, 497. So, anything above those scores would be 'good' scores in my opinion. However, extremely competitive colleges, like Harvard, would expect to see scores well into the 600s in all categories. Less competitive universities and colleges, like major state universities would expect to see scores well into the 500s in all categories. Local, less competitive colleges and universities would be perfectly happy with scores in the lower 500s. Even if you scored a perfect 800 in all categories, however, you would still be evaluated by your high school GPA and class rank, by the curriculum that you took, and by your participation in extracurricular activities - in that order of importance.
Here's my advice: Go to www.collegeboard.com and look at the colleges that you're interested in. Check out their admission criteria, and see if you're a possible match.
I hope that this has answered your question. Please let me know if there is anything else that I can do to help.
Good luck, and best regards,
Michael
