bought a narcotic from online pharmacy

I had a prescription from the online pharmacy. I checked the pharmacy out and it was legitmate. I only bought a one month supply. It was Tylenol 3. It is cheaper outside of the US. Was sent a note from Customs tell me it was illegal. I requested my money back and they sent me more, which went to my moms, then my house via forwarded mail. I know it has been confiscated. Can I be in trouble if i didn't reorder these, didn't sign for them, and do not have them? Do they arrest individuals who buy for themselves not large quantities? I have not seen anything on the news and the internet states that they cannot prosecute the person buying unless it is w/ intent to distribute. I live in VA.

Acetaminophen with Codeine (Tylenol formula 3) is a Schedule III Controlled Substance in the US.

Therefore, it wouldn't matter whether you were planning on distributing it. Simply possessing the substance is a felony.

Theoretically, if they chose to indict you for the crime the max penalty could be up to 3 years imprisonment just for possession.

More likely, any criminal proceedings would be treated as a summary case with a maximum fine of $1000 and/or 3 months in jail for the first possession offense.

It's definitely not a good idea to attempt to get Tylenol formula 3 in the US. Hopefully, there won't be any charges since you never actually received the items but you'll want to be very careful in the future.

Reply to Matt Kesler's Post: how will i know if there is to be any type of prosecution. I also have proof that I tried to get a refund and they sent it anyway. this was the first time ever recieving anything from over seas. Also, why is the public not very aware they can be prosecuted?
