Question

I bought a 1979 Jeep CJ5 and it has a 360 v8 in it. According to what I can find, 1979 jeep CJ's did not come with a 360 v8, (only a 304) for that year. I am trying to replace my speedometer gear and cannot seem to find this type of gear anywhere. I do not know if it was replaced when the 360 was installed but the tranny appears to be a normal 3 spd manual jeep tranny. The speedo gear removes by unscrewing the gear housing from the tranny. The housing has threads on each end, one to screw into the tranny and one that the speedometer cable screws to. I cannot get my new cable to insert into the gear shaft and thus would like to replace the gear but cannot for the life of me find this type. Can you help point me in the right direction? There is not a clip that holds the gear housing in, you just unscrew it from the tranny and pull out the gear. Thanks,
