Question

I had two kittys. Fine and healthy. Then I got another one. Even healther looking. Same age. The last new kitty two days ago stared a shaky nervour walk. Could not control it. He ate good and moved around.(Note, we have no vet for 100 miles where I live.) This morning I thoutht I was going crazy..... The sick kitten is all well and one of my first two is doing it, but seems alittle more shaky. He was the lively one of the bunch. What is it that it came and went to another kitten. They stay outside. In a cage at nite, then loose all day. I live in the mountains. Should I get shots. I can get parvo at our local feed store. Do cats get shots. Sorry I am a dog person and dont know about cats much. Will the healthy kitty get this too?
The #1 kitten had it two days and is fine now. #2 wont eat. Where would be good info for me to fine about what to look for in a cats health. I dont know much aout cats. I have always been allergic until a shot helped me out. I live in a rural area.

Hi,

This sounds more like these kitties are getting into something than a disease. If you have any plants, carpet powders, toilet bowl cleaner, antifreeze etc, I would remove it from their areas. I would also bring them in. There is something dangerous outside. If you have any creeps for neighbors, they can be throwing them something.

Cats do get shots specially if they go out. The most important is called FVRCP and protects against distemper.

You must get them eating and hydrated. Try canned cat food or even tuna. Give them unflavored pedialyte by dropper - about two cc's every ten minutes for a half hour.

Please let me know how the babies are doing. If you still have questions, I will be happy to help.

Very sincerely,

Terri
