Hi Nigel and welcome to Just Answer.
Sorry it took a while, but this was a tricky one.
As you probably know, Sheikh Hasina lost most of her direct relatives (including her three brothers - Sheikhs Kamal, Jamal and Russel) during the assassination of her father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (aka 'Bangabandhu' or 'Friend of Bangladesh') on August 15th, 1975. Luckily Hasina and her younger sister Sheikh Rehana were visiting West Germany at the time, so they avoided the massacre.
Sheikh Hasina had already married Dr M. A. Wazed Miah, (a nuclear scientist) in 1968. They have two children, both of whom are based in the USA. A son Sajib Wazed Joy and a daughter Saima Wazed Putul. Saima lives in Florida and has two children. (According to
this source, she is currently pregant with a third.) I haven't discovered the names of Patul's children, nor whether Joy has any children yet. I do know he has an US citizen wife, Christine. I'm still digging into these issues for you.
Shiekh Hasina's sister, Sheikh Rehana decided to base herself in London after her father's death. She is also married and has children who are, of course, Sheikh Hasina's nephew and niece.
I tracked down an
interesting article, written by Sheikh Hasina herself and published earlier this year. I had already found some information in a Bangla forum that said the two children's names were Boby and Tulip, but that seemed doubtful. However, the correct names are in this paragraph from Hasina's article ...
" ... I was prime Minister for five years. My son and daughter and Sheikh Rehana’s son and daughter all received education and ideology from us. Still now, the ex-PM’s sister [Rehana] rides public bus to attend office. She makes end meet by working. She could not afford to buy even a car. Joy, Putul, Bobby, and Tulip - our [Hasina's & Rehana's] kids have all attended college and learned to be a human being. They are all working. They never become greedy. This is a blessing that we never have to hear bad things about our kids. They all have become good citizens. ..."
Sheikh Hasina names other older/more distant relatives in the same article, so I would highly recommend you take a look. This is another link to the article for you.
If I dig up any additional information I'll either update this post, or add another one for you, in which case you should definitely only choose 'Accept' for one of the answers - I wouldn't want you being charged twice!
Regards, Kyle
