The Duke University Press does journal releases that can be read online and printed if desired that are part of their American Literature Studies. The journal/book is named "New England Humor: From the Revolutionary War to the Civil War. by Cameron C. Nickels"
An excerpt...." Indeed, in arguing that New England humor ended with the Civil War, it excludes much of what many people consider New England humor, that dry humor about.....
Within all of my searches this was the only book I found that was not a series of joke,humorous events, tales, stories or otherwise and a true writing on New England humor.
If you click on the link that says access options the journal you will the available options for viewing the journal as well as an area in which the journal can be purchased from the writer.
