Question

more than four rings on a Cingular cell phone?

Sent to General Experts February 17, 2004 1:10 a.m.

Hey, Anyone know how I can get my Cingular phone to ring more than four times? I'm always missing calls. It's a basic Nokia phone. Don't know the model name but it was one of the cheapest Nokia phones 5 months ago when I bought it.

Thanks,
I appreciate it.

Customer (name blocked for privacy),

The problem is do with your answering machine coming on/ and or the vibration setting.

Two things to try.

Firstly, you can remove the way the phone automatically goes to the answering machine, by chaning the relevant settings in the Phone Settings section.

Secondly, take the vibration setting off. There will be an option which has ring and vibration - take that off and it should work.

Hope that helps.

Sorry, I didn't have my vibrate setting on, and I don't see what to change in my Phone Settings section.

When I Change "ringing options" from Ring to ascending, it still only rings four times before it cuts to Voice Mail.

I hope I am answering this right. According to the Nokia site.. it says to press Menu. Then 03-2 (to customize ringing options).

If that doesn't help. You can get help for your Nokia phone at www.nokiausa.com/support or call them at 1-888-665-4228 7 days a week 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. EST

Hope this helps!

Sorry, I ended up calling tech support on this one. I found out that Cingular has to change the number of rings on their end -- there's nothing I can do on the phone itself.
