I have a Golden Retreiver 1yr2months old. Hit by automobile 3/08/07. Emergent care..operated on 3/11/07 closed elbow reduction left front leg...home at 1830 that night..Has not urinated as of today at 0906 (however not taking much po). Unable to support weight on his back legs..I was told that anesthesia needs to wear off... (surgery 48 hours ago). I also hear as well as feel crunching in mid back area when I pick him up. He does not appear to be in pain. He wags tail..he can stand if I position him with legs apart. unable to balance and walk. what should I do? Seek second opinion?

Often some injuries are not apparent with immediate emergency care.
With the noise in the spine and the lack of use of rear legs I'd get him in for another evaluation as it sounds like he may have a spinal injury.
He may not be able to release his urine if he can't feel the muscles in that area which could happen if he has a pinched nerve.
If no x-rays of the spine were taken they may need to be.
The anesthesia should have worn off by now. I'd start by calling the vet who worked on him and telling him or her of the issues.
