I have a 2001 a4 1.8t.I pulled over for a minute went to takoff and loss oil pressure and started to have a knocking noise in the motor.I shutt it off had it towed when we went to take off the car ran fine good oil pressure and no knocking.So I took off and ran fine for about a day or two and did samthing again.Any ideas would nice thank you.

Does the low oil indicator also illuminate when this is occuring? If not how have you verified loss of oil pressure?
So, when the knocking is occuring, does it get louder while accelerating?

Thanks for the info. Does sound like a oil pressure concern. The engine oil pressure will need to be manually tested at a quality facility, and more than likely the oil pump replaced. The only problem is that if the knocking was excessive, there may have been internal engine damage and the oil pan will need to be pulled for inspection for any metalic fillings at the bottom. It's unusaul for this engine to have an oil pressure problem so earnly on.
