Hello!
The way emergency services (AAA) guys get into locked vehicles is pretty simple and elegant. On most modern vehicles you cannot easily use a slim jim or other door unlocking tools that reach into the interior of the door without risking damage to internal wiring or components. Instead, they have a door unlocking tool that is nothing more than a 4 foot long metal rod (similiar to the wire shopping carts are made from) that has a slight bend in the center. This is used by forcing a plastic or wooden wedge in between the top edge of the door frame and the roof of the vehicle to open up a gap there wide enough to insert the rod. This sounds like it would damage the door, but in acutal practice most doors spring quite a bit and this does not distort anything.; you do need to pay attention to the rubber weather seal to avoid tearing it though.
Pull outward on the door top; have someone slip a wedge or similiar object into the gap to hold it open. Then, simply reach inside with the rod and push the unlock button. This is very easy, simple, and takes about 30 seconds once you get the hang of it!
The special tool is not required; I have unlocked many doors with whatever long thin object seems to be handy at the momnet. Yo9u can even use a rod made of a couple straigntened coathangers twisted together if the lunock button is not to stiff to press easily.
Hope this is helpful; if so, please click my accept button and leave positibre feedback! Thanks!
