Question

i think my grandmother has gangrene on her left heel. there is an odor and fluid . how can i help this.i am told that it is a bed sore but i think it is more. she now is in a nursing home. she alos is 95. her mind and body are fine-she can't walk because of sore on heel

i am not sure. i will ask the nurse today. she puts some kind of cream on it and then a large bandaid

If she is not on oral antibiotics, she needs to be. If you feel Gangrene has set in, this needs immediate attention, which I would have her seen in the ER, as treatment of the dead tissue needs to be done as well.

I don't know the protocol of the nursing home she is in, but you should find out what course of treatment she is getting for this.
