Question

My papillion is urinating frequently, sometimes more than once in a minute. I took her to the vet but he said to watch her for a couple of days and then possibly he would take a urine sample. She has lots of energy but we dont think she has eaten all day. She had diarhea this morning but we think that is because she ate an adult dogs food on Saturday. I am very concerned since she has not eaten. She is drinking a little water but not a lot. Thank you for your help.

Hello XXXXXX XXXX

This is very strange to me. So you took her to the vet because she was urinating more frequently and the vet did nothing but an exam?

Did the vet give her any medicine?

How old is she?

She is approximately 13 weeks old. We got her December 8th and they told us she was 8 weeks old. He massaged her stomach and said she didn't have any urine in it so he couldnt get a sample. He said she did have some stool. He said she might have a rash on her rear end. He said in a couple of days he would see her again if she wasnt any better. She had tons of energy this morning but played all day with the jack russel who is very active so it might be natural that she pooped out in the afternoon. I share her with my housekeeper and she will be at my house tomorrow morning but is not here now. My housekeeper said she is drinking water but not eating. I spoke to her a half hour ago.

She was urinating sometimes two or three time a minute but very little was coming out..just a few drops. I noticed it when she came to my house at 8:30 and it was still going on when she left but just not a noticeable. I had her on my bed in the morning watching tv and I could monitor very carefully. this afternoon she was running around the house with the jack russel.

She needs antibiotics!

She has a urinary tract infection. http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&A=2457

If it goes too long untreated it can move into her kidneys.

I am concerned about her not eating today. Since she is so young, if she is not eating you will have to force feed her or she may get hypoglycemia or low blood sugar. You can see if she will eat some chicken and rice, meat flavor jar baby food, or a little cottage cheese. If she will not eat it, put some in her mouth. A few teaspoons is enough.
