Hello,

You might try this. My Mother swears by it...

Hopefully they will help the urine smells to go away...

Mix all 3 together, apply to carpet, and then leave on for 20-30 minutes & lightly vacuum...

1/2 cup baking soda
1/2 cup cornstarch
15 drops of your favorite scented oil

Hope it works for you! Good luck...

Greetings:

Pet Urine on Carpet
First, blot up what you can with paper towels. Mix one teaspoon mild dish-washing detergent in one cup warm water, dip a clean towel in the liquid and, working from outside in, dab at stain. Do not overwet. Rinse with fresh water and blot dry. Next, add on-third cup white vinegar with two-thirds cup water and dab on stain. Rinse with water; blot until dry. Once area is totally dry (after at least 24 hours), sprinkle entire carpet with baking soda or rug deodorizer. Vacuum after a few hours.

Dear Customer (name blocked for privacy),

Here are some more suggestions that you can try and are found on the following website:  http://cleaning.lifetips.com/Cat.asp__Q__id__E__59310

< ="whiteback size9 black bold nounderline"><>2. Urine Stain and Odor Removal from Carpet< ="whiteback size8 black nobold nounderline"><> Urine can saturate absorbent materials such as carpet, well beyond the surface area that can effectively be cleaned. It is extremely difficult to remove all of the urine from the carpet fibers, carpet backing and padding underneath, thereby creating ideal conditions for bacteria and mold growth (and thus malodors). However, you might not be ready to replace your items just yet. First, blot up as much of the urine as possible with an absorbent white cloth.

The newest technology uses peroxide and detergents to penetrate the soiled area to remove the stain and deactivate the odor. Simply spray a product such as PAWS - Pet Accident Washup Solution or Bio-OX Citrus Concentrate on the soiled area, and then allow it to penetrate for approximately five minutes. Using a clean white absorbent cloth, blot the area, pressing down firmly (do not rub) for 30 seconds. Repeat this blotting process until the area is dry. If the odor persists, repeat the process. PAWS will do an excellent job on old pet stains and odors too.

You can also try saturating the area with a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution. Let it sit for a few minutes. Then, using a clean white absorbent cloth, blot the area, pressing down firmly (do not rub) for 30 seconds. Repeat this blotting process until the area is dry. If the odor or stain persists, repeat the process.

Another option is baking soda, which can be used to eliminate surface (but not deeply penetrated) odors. Dampen the area with clean water and then sprinkle baking soda over it. Rub the baking soda into the soiled area and let dry; brush or vacuum to remove the dry material.

Andrea Haston from Texas sent this super tip in; "Ivory bar soap is a miracle-worker! I have removed furniture polish, red wine, tomato sauce, and grape jelly stains from my carpet. Just scrub with an old toothbrush and rinse well." Thanks Andrea!

Pet Stains! Images available only to Customers.

Terri Wright from Centreville, MD writes; "For urine stains from pets I found that straight rubbing alcohol poured on after soaking up will take out any pet odor because it kills the bacteria that forms in the carpet after it is left to dry. Also the best for soaking up any liquid is a disposable baby diaper with something of weight on top. They are very absorbent." Thanks a bunch Terri! Here is another tip sent in by J. Lass from Kitchener, Ontario; "To remove an accident your pet has left on your carpet, just cover with baking soda and let sit. The soda will draw the mess right out. Let dry and vacuum." Thanks J. Lass! (Love your name!) Also, here is my tip for pet accidents; "Sprinkle white vinegar over fresh doggie accidents on carpets. Wait a few minutes then sponge from the center out. Blot up with a dry cloth. Repeat for stubborn stains."

I hope one of these work for you.

Dear Customer (name blocked for privacy),

If none of the above suggestions work out, then maybe it might be worth your time to hire a professional carpet cleaning crew to take care of the smell.  If they're good and manage to take care of the problem, then they would be worth the cost and it would still be cheaper than having to replace the carpet or having to live with the smell.
