Question

I have purchased an older home which has interior french doors. The panes of glass are heavily coated with a film that is so stubborn and looks horrible!! I have a sponge 'goo' remover which has partially worked (it works great on my granddaughter's crayon drawings on my walls!), but windex, etc. has no affect. Can you please help?!?

Answer

Dear mlberry:

I know that pesky buildup can cause "severe frustration" after repeated attempts of removal. I can personally relate as I had a like situation to go through just recently.
A friend of mine gave me a sure fire way to get the job done, and efficiently!

Try the following and let me know how it works for you.

Mix:
1/2 cup of pure Amonia
1 pint of isopropyl alcohol
1 Teaspoon dishwashing detergent (oxy powered brand if possible) (preferably by "palmolive")
and then add enough water to make one full gallon.
Add this solution to a spray bottle, and be sure to lable the product as a "DANGEROUS CHEMICAL" for saftey reasons.
Dampen the windows and let them soak for about 10 minutes. Then gently wipe with a lint-free cloth, (paper towels would work fine), and you might have to use the solution a few times; repeating the process in layers until all goop is gone!

I surely hope this helps you as it did for me!

Good Luck, I wish you the best!
