Question
Hello, I've had a pair of parakeets for about 3 years and all of sudden yesterday we find a egg in the bottom of the cage under tissue in their cage, what do we do now? Do I need to get a nesting box for her? And what happens to the egg that's under the tissue? leave it along or get ride of it? We were told that we had to females never expect babies?

Hello. You may very well have two females. They do not need male birds around to lay eggs. Before we decide which way to go with the eggs themselves, (and before you touch it or do anything) let's see if we can be sure about gender. Please look at their ceres and tell me what color they are. That would be the area just above the beak where the nostrils are located. Once we have that sorted out, we can go from there. Thanks, Patricia
